The stone saw stands on the church square as a reminder of the quarrying and processing of Harz dolomite in Steina. The saw blade of the ‘Historic Stone Saw’ has a diameter of more than 2 metres. Large blocks of dolomite, which were quarried, could be further processed using this imposing stone saw.

From Steina, it’s worth taking a hike up Ravensberg. The trail leads uphill through the forest. From the summit, you can enjoy the view—all the way to Bad Lauterberg, as far as the Brocken, and into the Harz foothills.

Hike to Wiesenbeker Pond

From Steina, you can reach the Wiesenbeker Pond via the “Hohe Tür.” Past the Steinatal Dam, the trail goes uphill for a bit and then downhill, past the Harz Hiking Badge stamp station, to the Wiesenbeker Pond. From there, you can continue hiking all the way to Bad Lauterberg.
