Winter Sports and Local History Museum

The first section of the exhibition at the Bad Sachsa Winter Sports and Local History Museum is dedicated to over a century of winter sports history. Skis and runners take center stage, illustrating the development of winter sports on the Ravensberg. The exhibits range from skeleton sleds to steerable sleds and bobsleds. The evolution of sleds is also a key theme, tracing the development from the simple Davos sled to the products manufactured by Ski Schäfer.

A second section of the museum is devoted to the development of Bad Sachsa. What began as a border town and a hub for carters grew into an elegant spa town. Fresh air and impressive villas continue to shape the town’s skyline to this day. The spa architecture of the Harz region plays a central role in this. Elements of Art Nouveau can also be found here.

There is a special focus on historical trades. Pharmacists, coopers, plumbers, upholsterers, and shoemakers offer insights into daily work life in times past and bring history to life.

The museum is sustained by a great deal of dedication. The Förderverein Heimatmuseum Bad Sachsa e.V. runs the museum entirely on a volunteer basis.
