Ravensberg, Bad Sachsa

The Ravensberg is one of the most beautiful destinations in the Bad Sachsa area and a true highlight for hikers, nature lovers, and those who enjoy the finer things in life. At 660 meters high, it is one of the most striking mountains in the Southern Harz and delights visitors with an impressive panoramic view of the Harz mountain range. On a clear day, the view even extends as far as the famous Brocken.

Even the hike up to Ravensberg is an adventure in itself: dense forests, peaceful hiking trails, and numerous scenic viewpoints make the tour a special experience in nature. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll or a long hike —there are numerous well-marked trails around the Ravensberg for every fitness level. Particularly popular are the loop hikes starting from Bad Sachsa, which wind through the idyllic Harz landscape and offer magnificent views of valleys, forests, and the town along the way.

Those who prefer a more comfortable option can even drive up. The Ravensberg is the only peak in the Harz Mountains that is accessible by car. Near the summit, you’ll also find the Dreiherrenstein, which until 1866 marked the borders of the Kingdoms of Prussia and Hanover and the Duchy of Brunswick, where they met here.

Once you reach the top, a unique panoramic view of the entire southern Harz Mountains awaits you. The striking tower at the summit, which was originally used as a listening post during the Cold War, makes the Ravensberg visible from a great distance. Today, the mountain is primarily a popular viewpoint and meeting place for hikers.

Right at the summit, the cozy Ravensberg mountain hut “Berghof” invites you to take a break. Here, guests can enjoy regional specialties, coffee, and homemade cake—all while taking in a breathtaking view of the Harz landscape, of course.
